Why we fit AIKO

AIKO build their panels with the electrical contacts on the back of the cell rather than across the front. The practical result is a panel face with no silver lines running across it — on a dark roof it reads as one clean black surface.

The same design gives a high output per panel. On a roof with limited clear space, that means more generation from the same number of fixings, which is often the difference between a system that is worth doing and one that is not.

We still design every system from the roof and the usage first. The panel is chosen to suit the job, not the other way round.

Our usual choice on pitched roofs. Fitted at Herriard (twelve A475-MCE54Mb panels, 5.7kWp) and on Bath Road, Reading (fifteen panels, 7.125kWp).

A slightly smaller module we use where the roof layout suits it. Eight were fitted on a clay-tile roof in Tadley on a Renusol mounting system.

AIKO questions we get asked

Are AIKO panels a good brand?

They are a large panel manufacturer and one of the leaders in back-contact cell technology. We fit them because of how they perform and look on real roofs, and we would tell you if another panel suited your property better.

How many AIKO panels will fit on my roof?

Fewer than the roof area suggests. Panels have to keep clear of ridges, hips, valleys and vents, and line up with the rafters. We measure at survey and give you the real number.

Do AIKO panels work in shade?

Shade affects any panel. What matters is how the system is designed around it — string layout, the inverter, and whether optimisers are needed. We assess shading at survey and design for it.

Can AIKO panels be paired with a battery?

Yes. We have paired them with Anker SOLIX and Sigenergy storage. The battery and inverter are chosen for your usage and tariff.
