We install solar PV, battery storage and EV charging across Romsey and the surrounding Hampshire area, covering SO51.
Romsey is towards the outer edge of the area we cover routinely. We work there, but we schedule it as a planned job rather than a passing visit — which mostly affects how we sequence survey, scaffold and installation, not what you pay.
We already work extensively in Winchester, Newbury, and Romsey falls within the same run.
We have not yet published a detailed survey of the housing stock in Romsey the way we have for the towns we work in most often. We would rather say that than pad this page out with claims about your roof that we have not actually verified. Tell us the postcode and we will tell you what we would expect to find, and what we would need to check.

- Load assessment firstWe check your main fuse, consumer unit and demand, and add load management where the supply needs it.
- Safe earthing, every timePEN fault protection or a dedicated earth, established at survey rather than assumed.
- Charge from your own solarWith solar and a battery, a solar-aware charger fills the car from your roof instead of the grid.
- Smart, app-controlledCompliant smart charging with off-peak schedules, so you charge when electricity is cheapest.
What we install in Romsey
- Solar panel installationSurvey, design, roof works, electrical works and commissioning for a domestic solar PV system.
- Battery storage installationHome battery systems sized against your consumption, sited properly and commissioned with the tariff in mind.
- Solar and battery systemsPanels, hybrid inverter and storage designed as one system, on one scaffold, with one commissioning.

- Battery retrofitAdding storage to a solar system that is already on the roof, without disturbing what works.
- Solar panel maintenanceScheduled servicing of the whole system — array, fixings, DC side, inverter and monitoring — not just the glass.
What affects the price in Romsey
The roof covering. Concrete interlocking tile is quick. Clay and natural slate are slower, because every fixing has to be placed properly and the material is easier to break.
The electrical installation. The age of the consumer unit, whether there is spare capacity and the earthing arrangement all matter, and they matter more once a battery or an EV charger is involved.
Where the equipment can live. A garage, plant room or utility with space next to the supply is the cheap answer. A long cable run to the only sensible position is a real line item.
Scaffold and access. Restricted frontages, awkward elevations and flat roofs all change the scaffold cost before a panel goes up.
All of it goes into a fixed quotation after the survey. If something is going to add cost, we would rather establish it beforehand than discover it on the day.
Technology worth understanding first
- Hybrid invertersA single unit managing array, battery and house demand, and when fitting one is worth the extra cost.
- Mounting systemsHooks, rails, clamps and fixings — the part of the installation that decides whether the roof stays watertight.
- N-type and TOPCon panelsThe cell technology behind the current generation of high-output modules, and what it changes in practice.
Guides for your property type
- Tile roofsConcrete interlocking, clay pantile and plain tile — the most common covering we work on, and the most forgiving.
- Slate roofsNatural and fibre cement slate: hook selection, breakage risk and why slate takes longer than tile.
- Flat roofsBallasted or mechanically fixed frames, membrane life, wind loading and row spacing — flat roof solar is a structural question first.
Common questions from Romsey homeowners
Do you actually cover Romsey? Yes. It is about an hour from our base, and it sits within the area we work in regularly rather than somewhere we would treat as an exception.
Which postcodes? SO51 and the surrounding villages. If you are just outside those, ask anyway — the boundary is not a hard line.
Do you know my type of roof? Probably, but we would rather look than guess. Send a postcode and we will start with an indicative design from the roof, your usage and what you are trying to achieve.
Do I need planning permission? Domestic solar is usually permitted development, but flat-roof arrays and listed or conservation-area properties have their own conditions. We check for the specific property.
How long does it take? A straightforward domestic array is typically a couple of days on site. Storage, a long supply run or a flat-roof frame extends that, and the quotation will say so.
